I go by the name of Peter Perfect. The other, older Peter sadly died four years ago. Which made him perfect for me to inhabit. Listen very carefully. Your soul depends upon it, and we don’t have much time.
In the beginning, a Water God pulled together everything that was ever known, or could ever be known, and placed it in a book. That book was known as The Book of All Things. But there was a problem. The wisdom that lived in The Book of All Things was invisible. So a Sun God cut glass from a dying star and forged a pair of Spectacles. With only those Spectacles alone could The Book of All Things be read.
Around this time, Souls began to evolve. That’s what you call them here. A Soul is a spirit. Tiny yet uniquely individual. At first, a mere handful of Souls came into being. They struggled to survive, but the more Souls were born, the more powerful they became. When the Spectacles, The Book of All Things and an infinite number of Souls first found each other back in the day, there was a very big bang. No one understood what was going on at first, but it got out of hand. Souls began to multiply too fast to count. An office manager, who recognised the value of all those new Souls called it a Universe®, copyrighted it and the name stuck. Everything you see around you was created in that single instant.
An Elephant later argued it was far too dangerous for The Book of All Things and the Spectacles to be kept in the same place for a moment longer. Should they fall into the wrong hands, the Book and the Spectacles could be used to reboot the Universe. Thankfully, our Universe has never been rebooted. A potential disaster. So, the Book and the Spectacles were separated. Legend had it that not even the Elephant himself knew where they were taken. Of course, that was just propaganda.
What was true was neither the Book nor the Spectacles were ever seen again. Until now!
It was Friday afternoon in the town of Ashbourne in the country of England on the planet Earth. The month was May, the year 2025.
